Q1: When did you fall in love with street photography?
       Când te-ai îndrăgostit de fotografia de stradă?

I began street photography by accident. Three years ago, I was given a DSLR. At first, I just thought that would take photos to friends and relatives. But, to learn how to use the camera, I had to learn it by bringing it out in the streets. After 2-3 months getting used with my camera by taking photos outdoors, I realized I was strongly attracted by the events occured on the street. Then, I began to study street photography from books, documents, successful street photographers and also self-practice activities.

Am început să fac fotografie de stradă dintr-o întâmplare. Acum 3 ani am primit un aparat DSLR. La început, l-am folosit doar pentru a fotografia prieteni sau rude. Dar, ca să învăț să-l folosesc, l-am luat pe stradă să experimentez. După 2-3 luni de folosire pe afară m-am învățat cu aparatul și am descoperit că sunt foarte atras de ceea ce se petrece pe stradă. Apoi am început să studiez fotografia de stradă din cărți și diverse documente, să urmăresc fotografi de succes în domeniu și să-mi propun diverse experimente practice.

 

 

Q2: Do you have some special place where you felt that you can stay on streets all day long, to capture the moments of the street?
       Ai găsit un loc special în care ai putea sta toată ziua, pentru a capta momentele străzii?

Ha Noi, Sapa and Ha Giang are places which bring me a lot of motivation, I can shoot all day long without getting bored. Ha Noi is capital of my country and there are lot of of old streets there. Each street has their own specificities, they have their own traditional crafts, old traditional markets and especially people over there is very friendly… so there are a bunch of materials for your shooting there. Sapa, Ha Giang are the opposite of Ha Noi, when I want to leave the city life, I often go these places. The simply life but colorful of minority combined with the imposing scene of mountain are my Inspiration.

Locuri ca Hanoi, Sapa și Hagiang mă motivează și nu mă plictisesc niciodată vizitându-le. Hanoi este capitala țării și are multe străzi vechi. Fiecare străduță este diferită, are meșteșugari tradiționali, piețe vechi și mai ales oameni binevoitori… aici găsesc suficiente subiecte interesante. Sapa și Hagiang sunt complet diferite față de Hanoi și, când doresc să plec din orașul meu, sunt destinațiile preferate. Viața simplă și colorată a minorităților de aici combinată cu peisajul montan impunător reprezintă inspirația mea.

 

 

Q3: Are you approaching streets by selecting a specific topic to follow or are you going by instinct and chase the moment?
       Când ieși la fotografiat pe stradă, îți alegi un subiect/temă de urmărit sau te bazezi pe instinct?

When I do my project, I will follow this and shoot with specific topic. In day time, I always keep my camera along whenever I go down to street so I can immediately capture the interested moments around me. Because I want to tell the story of real life so I never put any setup on my shoot.

Când lucrez la un anumit proiect, urmăresc și fotografiez tema respectivă. Întotdeauna aparatul foto este cu mine și la îndemână astfel încât să pot fotografia rapid momentele interesante întâlnite. Deoarece doresc să documentez viața reală, niciodată nu îmi regizez cadrele.

 

 

Q4: BW or Color in your street photography?
       Alb/negru sau color?

I chose both of them, each one has their own interesting, my choice will up to the scene, moment and purpose of photo.

Îmi plac și le folosesc pe ambele, alegerea finală ținând de cadru, moment sau scopul fotografiei respective.

 

 

Q5: One special story behind one captured scene?
       Ai vreo poveste specială din spatele uneia dintre fotografii?

I want to talk about one photo I took at Dong Xuan traditional market at Ha Noi, I shot it at the nap of workers and bodyguards over there. After shooting, they recognized me and came for asking me, they don’t want to be shot and be in newspaper. I chatted with them, so them this photo and explain about it. And so excited, they like this and felt interested to be shot. We chatted more and more and I understood deeper about their life and what they work there. Then I have some interesting “social friends”. When I go shooting there after that, I often find them for chatting, tell a joke. Streetlife photography not only gives me photos, it also bring for me joyful and happiness like that.

Doresc să povestesc despre o fotografie făcută în piața Dong Xuan din Hanoi, cu muncitorii odihnindu-se lîngă cei doi bodyguarzi. După ce am declanșat, m-au observat și apostrofat – nu doreau sa apară fotografiați în ziar. Am stat de vorbă cu ei, explicându-le de ce am făcut poza. Au fost încântați și interesați de mai multe informații. Am discutat mult și am aflat la rândul meu mai multe detalii despre viața și munca lor. Așadar, mi-am făcut noi prieteni interesanți… Când ies la fotografiat prin aceeași zonă, îi întâlnesc și stăm la o vorbă și o glumă. Fotografiind viața străzii, pe lângă imaginile strânse, îmi aduce satisfacții și bucurii ca aceasta.
